Hebert Garden

Hebert Garden located at the corner of Blair Avenue and Hebert has various shrubs and flowering plants, an arbor, and a sign honoring Johnnie Owens. Johnnie lived across the street, loved the garden, and volunteered in Old North in many ways. A brick path installed by neighbors winds through the garden. The garden was placed into the Seed St. Louis community garden land trust following fundraising to purchase the land from the city.

2025 is bringing many changes to this beloved garden! In partnership with Seed St. Louis, we are reinvigorating the garden for food production. Perennials have been added in spring, with a new orchard and berry plants, along with tree trimming and earth moving. Annual vegetables are being added next.

We are raising money to enable the growth of this garden for the next generation: purchasing additional land to enable more food production, building a new gazebo for community events and shaded rest for volunteers, purchasing plants, and completing more structural improvements to ensure access and growing space.

You can also join us as a volunteer! Send an email to info@onsl.org and we will connect you with the Hebert Garden team.
